New Delhi- The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to take place in Goa from 20 to 28 November 2024, and in a move to support emerging filmmakers, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has introduced a special section titled "Best Debut Indian Film Section 2024." This initiative aims to showcase the work of new Indian directors and highlight fresh narratives and diverse cinematic styles from across the country. Through this new section, IFFI seeks to provide a platform for young talent, with up to five debut feature films selected to represent innovative perspectives in Indian cinema.
Along with the debut film showcase, the festival will also present the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film Award to recognize first-time directors for their creativity, artistic merit, and impact on the audience. This award aims to honor the contributions of debut directors to the evolution of Indian cinema and encourage new voices in the film industry. The award will include a certificate and a cash prize of ₹5 lakhs, emphasizing the festival's commitment to supporting budding filmmakers.
The entries for the Best Debut Indian Film Section at IFFI 2024 are now open, and filmmakers are encouraged to submit their debut works through the official IFFI Goa website.
The deadline for submissions is 23 September 2024, and additional information is available on www.iffigoa.org. By celebrating new filmmakers, this section showcases IFFI’s dedication to fostering the next generation of cinematic storytellers and promoting fresh voices in Indian cinema.
