Rajasthan: Tribal Youth beaten to death, Community members sitting on a dharna demanding justice

Refusal of relatives prevented the post-mortem, body kept in the mortuary, family and community members protesting.

Jodhpur— A tribal youth was beaten to death in the home district of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The incident took place at Sursagar Bhomiyan ji ki Ghati Sooraj ka Bera, where a tribal youth was beaten by Iron bars in a dispute about overdrawing water. After the incident, the police has taken custody of the body and kept it at the Mahatama Gandhi Hospital.

According to the information, Tribal youth Kishanlal Bhil was eking out a living by working as a labourer. His family members and relatives rushed to the SDM hospital. They demanded compensation for the deceased  Kishanlal and were adamant on not getting a post-mortem done. The community members were joined by members of other organizations outside the mortuary of MDM Hospital demanding a government job and a compensation of Rs 50 lakh.

Police have taken the three accused Shakeel, Nasir, and Bablu in custody and have registered a case against them under SC/ST prevention of atrocities act and IPC Section 302(Murder).

Speaking to The Mooknayak, Ashok, the brother of the deceased told that a dispute broke out over drawing water from the handpump. My brother was attacked by Iron bars. We demand that a member of the family is provided a government job or else we will not move from the dharna.
