Bhopal: In a disgraceful incident on Teacher’s Day at Primary School No. 2 in the tribal area of Semalkhedi village, Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh, a teacher has been suspended for arriving at school intoxicated and cutting the hair of a tribal student. The assistant teacher, Veer Singh Mendha, was suspended following the incident, and the district administration has taken a tough stance, ordering strict action against the accused.
Ratlam's Collector, Rajesh Batham, immediately suspended the teacher after the incident. He stated, "Veer Singh's behavior was contrary to the dignity of the teaching profession, which is unacceptable. Such inappropriate conduct is against the values of education, and for this, he has been suspended with immediate effect." In addition, the district administration has filed a complaint against the teacher at the local police station and instructed that a criminal case be registered against him.
The education department also reacted strongly to the incident. A senior official from the department said, "Such an incident on a sacred day like Teacher's Day is not only a blow to the education system but also to society's moral values. The strictest action will be taken against such teachers to ensure such incidents are not repeated in the future."
The accused teacher, Veer Singh Mendha, is currently absconding. The local police have registered a case against him and are actively searching for his whereabouts. Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, and the teacher will be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, the administration has formed a special committee to investigate the incident thoroughly. The committee will ensure that any other individuals involved in the case face appropriate action. The statements of other staff members and students from the school are also being recorded to gather a complete understanding of the incident. The education department has issued instructions to monitor the teachers and staff behavior closely in the future and to launch awareness campaigns to prevent such incidents.
Speaking with The Mooknayak, tribal activist Sunil Adivasi stated, "The swift action taken by the administration is certainly commendable, but a broader strategy is needed to prevent such incidents. It is crucial to make teachers aware of their responsibility and dignity, so they uphold the honor of their profession and serve as role models for their students. We hope the district administration and the education department will take even stricter measures to ensure no teacher behaves in this manner in the future."
