MP: Tribal Farmer Run Over and Killed by Tractor While Trying to Stop Illegal Sand Transport on His Land

Bhopal- Another case of sand mafia terror has emerged in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, where a tribal farmer was crushed to death by a tractor. The incident took place in Gannai village, under the Barka Chowki area, where 46-year-old Indrapal Agariya tried to stop the illegal transportation of sand on his land. During his protest, the tractor driver ran over him, killing him on the spot. The incident has sparked outrage within the tribal community.

The victim’s elder brother, Suresh Agariya, explained that illegal sand transport had been ongoing in their village for a long time, damaging their paddy crop. When Indrapal protested, Lale Vaishya, a former vice president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, allegedly ran the tractor over his younger brother. Suresh stated that his brother was simply trying to protect his fields but lost his life to the power of the sand mafia.

Following the incident, the police have seized the tractor and are searching for the accused. However, according to Barka Chowki in-charge SI Suraj Singh, even after reviewing the video footage, it remains unclear how Indrapal died. ASP Shivkumar Verma mentioned that further action would be taken only after the post-mortem report is received.

The Congress party has strongly condemned the incident, accusing the government of being a silent spectator while atrocities against tribals are on the rise. State Congress President Jeetu Patwari criticized Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, asserting that this incident is yet another example of BJP-affiliated individuals being involved. Patwari stated, "The freedom to loot is providing protection to crime and criminals. As Home Minister, you remain silent. Even the police administration is aiding the mafia."

Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath also condemned the incident, expressing concern over the increasing atrocities against tribals in the state. He questioned the Chief Minister, asking, "When will these atrocities stop?" Nath described the incident as a symbol of the failure of law and order in the state and warned that if swift action is not taken, Congress workers will take to the streets in protest.

Outrage Among the Tribal Community

This incident has ignited deep anger within the tribal community, who are demanding justice and strict action against illegal sand mining. The case has raised questions at both administrative and political levels about the government's seriousness regarding the safety of tribals in the state.

The Singrauli incident is yet another example of the growing terror of sand mafias in the state, showing how they continue their crimes fearlessly under government protection. The tribal community, already suffering from exploitation and oppression, now feels even more vulnerable.
