Agra- In a recent disturbing incident at a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha event in Kheda village, Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, a minor girl delivered a virulently Islamophobic speech that has ignited nationwide fury. The young narrator, introduced as 'Bal Vidushi Lakshmi' and seated on the vyas peeth (narrator's seat), appeared to be under 18 years old but her inflammatory remarks have raised serious questions about the exploitation of children for hate propaganda. The video clip of her speech has gone viral on social media, amplifying calls for immediate action against the organizers.

In response to the growing outrage and viral video, the Agra Police Commissionerate confirmed that the storyteller is a minor. "The Shamshabad police station has taken cognizance of the entire matter and is conducting an investigation. Further action will be taken," the department announced on its x handle.

The event was organized by the Yogi Youth Brigade Dharma Raksha Trust, led by its Uttar Pradesh president, Kunwar Ajay Tomar. On the fifth day of the katha, Lakshmi interspersed her narration of the religious text with targeted attacks on Muslims. In the widely shared clip, she urged Hindus to economically boycott Muslims and install signboards outside every village declaring: "Muslims' entry prohibited here." She claimed, "Listen to me, every village should have a board outside saying Muslims' entry is forbidden. If they come, what will they do? We'd have to sit and check who's a good Muslim and who's bad. From the news coming in, it seems the limit is being crossed. So, boards should be put up saying these people's entry is prohibited."

Lakshmi's rhetoric escalated with baseless accusations, alleging that Muslims sell food and essentials to Hindus to "corrupt their faith." She stated, "They try to corrupt Hindus' religion by selling them food and drink. By any means, their religion must be defiled. News of such activities is coming from every corner of the country. What's happening? Listen to me- a board should be installed outside every village saying Muslims' entry is prohibited." She further sensationalized her claims by asserting that reports of Muslims mixing spit and urine into fruits, food, and other items to defile Hindu beliefs are spreading globally, implying their veracity. "They're spreading so much corruption and evil deeds. Stay as alert as possible from these Muslims," she warned, linking them to potential "terrorist activities."

A less-discussed portion of the speech, now circulating online, reveals even deeper prejudice. Lakshmi accused Muslims of infiltrating villages under the guise of selling goods like scrap, clothes, vegetables, or other items. "Some Muslims go village to village to advance their work and gain victory over us because villagers are simple. They lack cunning. They come selling goods as an excuse, what if there's a hidden motive behind it? Sanatanis are becoming so naive, and if we don't realize these activities are happening in India, it will be too late," she said. She implied these visits could be reconnaissance for targeting families, counting household members, and luring Hindu women and girls into traps.

Her tirade extended to mocking Muslim religious expressions, referencing the 'I Love You Mohammed' controversy. "What's on the roads for them? 'I Love Mohammed.' But when it comes to running dhabas, they use our gods' names. So many news stories-dhabas in Shiva's name, in Hanuman's name. 'I Love Mohammed' on the road, but when earning money, they use our gods' names. And then, at those dhabas, what do they do? They spread corruption. These Muslims mix their spit in food to corrupt Hindus' religion, spit in fruits, urine, God knows what else. So much evil, so much corruption. These Muslims, stay vigilant from them as much as possible.

Compounding the controversy, during her delivery, Lakshmi was seen glancing downward two or three times, as if reading from a prepared script. This has fueled speculation: Did she write these lines herself, or were they scripted and provided by organizers? The backdrop poster prominently featured the Yogi Youth Brigade Dharma Raksha Trust logo, with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's image in the top left corner.

Questions are swirling: Was permission sought from the UP government or officials for the event, or did organizers unilaterally use the CM's photo? Tomar shared the full clip on his Facebook profile on October 2 afternoon, captioning it: "On the fifth day of the katha today, katha vyas and Yogi Youth Brigade's state spokesperson Bal Vidushi Lakshmi Ji told Hindus that Muslims should be economically boycotted and boards should be installed in every village saying Muslims' entry is prohibited here."

The video has triggered a social media storm, with human rights activists, minority community leaders, and netizens condemning the hate speech. "Poisoning a child's mind with hatred is a danger to society. Strict action must be taken against the organizers," said one prominent activist. Hashtags like #StopHateSpeech, #SaveChildFromHate, and #AgraHateSpeech are trending, demanding accountability. Experts warn that misusing religious events like kathas to spread hate violates constitutional values and could incite communal violence.

This incident underscores the rising tide of Islamophobia in Uttar Pradesh. Just recently, a discriminatory episode unfolded at a hospital in Jaunpur district, where a female doctor refused treatment to two Muslim women- one pregnant and the other suffering from another ailment, citing their religion. The doctor allegedly said, "She's Muslim; take her somewhere else." The episode has sparked nationwide outrage, with demands for a thorough investigation by the health department. Jaunpur's case illustrates how prejudice has infiltrated even healthcare, posing a grave threat to minorities.
