Rajasthan: Ambedkar Association Criticizes Feudal Practices on Government Premises

Chittorgarh- Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, Nathdwara MLA, was coronated as the 77th successor of the Mewar dynasty at Chittorgarh Fort on Monday. The ceremony, steeped in tradition, saw Singh receive a 21-gun salute and a procession lined with flowers at the Fateh Prakash Mahal.

Dr. Ambedkar Scheduled Caste Officers-Employees Association (AJAK) has criticized the coronation, deeming it incompatible with democratic principles.

Further, the coronation has been overshadowed by a dispute over the traditional "Dhuni Darshan" ritual at the City Palace in Udaipur. The trust managing the palace, currently controlled by Arvind Singh Mewar, younger brother of the late Mahendra Singh Mewar, has denied Vishvaraj Singh permission to enter, issuing legal notices to prevent unauthorized entry.

Police established strong security arrangements to prevent any flare-up. Despite police mediation efforts, no resolution has been reached, prompting heightened security measures at the City Palace and Eklingji temple, where Vishvaraj Singh also plans to visit. District collector Arvind Poswal confirmed that attempts to find a consensus between the parties were unsuccessful.

Randheer Singh Bhindar, a former representative of the royal family, stated that Vishvaraj Singh intends to visit the City Palace, despite the opposition. Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal echoed the administration's efforts to mediate the situation without success.

The coronation follows the passing of former MP Mahendra Singh Mewar on November 10th, drawing dignitaries and members of royal families from across India to honor the legacy of the historic Mewar dynasty.

Adding to the controversy, the Dr. Ambedkar Scheduled Caste Officers-Employees Association (AJAK) has criticized the coronation, deeming it incompatible with democratic principles. Association president Shriram Choudhary argued that such feudal events, particularly on government premises, contradict India's constitutional ethos. The organization has threatened protests and submitted a letter to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressing their concerns.
