New Delhi- Anger is widespread across the country over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan are also facing massive backlash on social media. Reports suggest that actor Fawad Khan's film Abir Gulal will not be released in India.
Sources from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have confirmed this information. The sources stated that the film Abir Gulal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, will not be allowed to release in India.
People outraged by the Pahalgam terror attack are vocal on social media, calling for a boycott of the Pakistani actor. Notably, while the Pakistani government expressed concern over the loss of lives and property in the attack, it refrained from labeling it a "terrorist act" or condemning it. Following this response from the neighboring country, public anger has turned toward Pakistani artists. In this context, people are demanding a ban on Abir Gulal.
One user wrote on X: "Will we still allow the release of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan's film 'Abir Gulal' in India?"
Another user wrote: "Abir Gulal will not be released in India."
A third user commented: "Boycott films featuring Pakistani artists. On one hand, they are killing our people, and on the other, Bollywood is making films with them."
A user enraged by the terror attack wrote: "All eyes on Kashmir."
The film was scheduled to release in theaters on May 9, 2025. However, people angered by the terror attack are urging others to boycott it.
Abir Gulal is a romantic cross-border film. Alongside Fawad Khan, actress Vani Kapoor plays the lead role. Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, the film also features actors Soni Razdan, Farida Jalal, Lisa Hayden, and Rahul Vohra in pivotal roles.
This is not the first time Fawad Khan has faced public backlash. Earlier, he encountered similar challenges during the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The film, released in 2016, starred Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Fawad Khan in lead roles. About a month before the film's release, the Uri attack took place, after which Pakistani artists were banned in India. However, the ban was later lifted.
