National Conference on 'Emerging Trends in Psychological and Educational Interventions for Diverse Learners' Held in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad- The three-day National Conference on 'Emerging Trends in Psychological and Educational Interventions for Diverse Learners: Future Prospects and Challenges' is being held in Ahmedabad from 20th to 22nd September 2024.

This significant event is jointly organized by the Indian Academy of Health Psychology, the Special Education Department (B.Ed. and M.Ed.) of Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, and the Composite Regional Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment Centre for Divyangjan, under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.

On the second day of the conference, Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, was the chief guest. During his address, he highlighted the Government's various initiatives for the empowerment of persons with disabilities, including the UDID card and free coaching programs. He emphasized the importance of expanding educational opportunities in science and technology for students with disabilities, particularly for those with visual impairments and hearing difficulties, stating, "Divyang students should be encouraged to pursue careers in engineering, science, and technology."

The event was presided over by Dr. Niranjan Patel, Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University. Other notable attendees included Pooja Patel, Board Member of the National Trust Act and Executive Committee Member of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), and Dr. Ajit Kumar, Director of CRC, Ahmedabad. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sameer J. Patel, Director of the Conference, while Dr. Niranjan Patel underscored the university’s dedication to supporting the needs of Divyangjan.

With more than 300 participants, the three-day conference received 119 research papers. An abstract book compiling these research submissions was also released during the event, contributing to the growing body of research on interventions for diverse learners.
