Honour Killing Shocks Rajasthan: Family Allegedly Murders Daughter Over Love Marriage, Attempts Secret Cremation

Jhalawar, Rajasthan: A tragic case of honour killing has surfaced in Jhalawar, where a family, infuriated by their daughter's love marriage, allegedly murdered her. The family abducted the woman from outside a bank, took her home, and killed her.

They then attempted to secretly cremate her body. However, the cremation was interrupted when the police arrived before the body was fully burned. This incident occurred in Shourti village, within the Jawar police station jurisdiction in Jhalawar district.

Manohar Thana DSP Janrail Singh reported that Shimla Kushwaha, 20, daughter of Kajori Lal Kushwaha from the Jawar police station area, had married Ravindra Bheel, son of Amrit Bheel from the same village, about a year ago against her family's wishes.

On June 4, they visited the Central Bank in Harnavdashahji, Baran district, to withdraw money, which alerted the girl's family. The family arrived at the bank and forcibly took her away. Her husband later reported the incident to the Harnavdashahji police station, explaining that they had gone to the bank to withdraw money when her father, Kajori Lal, along with Meghraj, Mangilal, and a woman, assaulted him and forcibly took his wife away on a motorcycle.

News of Burning the Woman’s Body Received Three Hours Later

Approximately three hours after the incident, Baran police received information about the woman's cremation in Jhalawar. Acting swiftly on this tip, Baran police alerted the Jawar police in Jhalawar, who rushed to the scene and halted the cremation.

Baran SP Rajkumar Chaudhary and Jhalawar SP Richa Tomar arrived at the cremation ground in Jawar. During this time, the woman's family fled the scene.

An FSL team was summoned to conduct an on-site investigation. CCTV footage from the bank showed about half a dozen relatives forcibly taking the woman away. Initial investigations revealed that the woman was strangled to death in Harnavdashahji. After she died, her body was taken to the cremation ground in Jawar for the last rites.
