Patnav– Bihar Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav announced on Saturday a new program, "Mai-Behan Maan Yojana," promising financial assistance to economically disadvantaged women if his party wins the upcoming Assembly elections. The scheme aims to combat inflation and provide for basic necessities like food, clothing, and healthcare for children.

Yadav stated that funds would be directly transferred to beneficiaries' bank accounts within one month of forming a Mahagathbandhan government. He emphasized the crucial role women play in Bihar's development, highlighting the "multiplier effect" cash transfers would have on areas like nutrition, healthcare, and education. "We believe that when women get cash transfers, they invest more in their families' well-being," Yadav said, emphasizing the broader societal benefits of empowering women economically.

Yadav also used the platform to criticize the ruling Bihar government, accusing officials of inefficiency and arrogance. He alleged that the government is "oppressing" the youth and claimed a lack of active governance under Nitish Kumar. He further criticized Kumar's planned Samvad Yatra, calling the Rs 2.25 billion budget allocation unprecedented for any Chief Minister in Bihar's history.

The "Mai-Behan Maan Yojana" appears to be a cornerstone of the opposition's strategy for the upcoming elections, focusing on grassroots issues and women-centric policies as a vehicle for social change.
