Jaipur- After a resounding victory in Rajasthan, the top echelons of the BJP are now immersed in a crucial deliberation – the selection of the next Chief Minister. In the forefront of this deliberation are prominent figures such as Vasundhara Raje, a seasoned leader who has previously held the reins of Rajasthan. Additionally, contenders like Arjun Ram Meghwal and Diya Kumari have emerged, each carrying their own political weight.
Notably, the clamour from tribal activists for the inclusion of Kirorilal Meena, a stalwart in politics, adds a compelling dimension to the decision-making process.
After defeating Congress in the elections, the BJP is now eyeing the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, the BJP is going to select the face of the Chief Minister in Rajasthan, keeping in mind the 2024 elections. If sources are to be believed, this time, the BJP is going to enter the Lok Sabha election campaign with the claim of sympathy for Dalits, tribals, and backward classes. In Rajasthan, the Chief Minister will be chosen keeping this formula in mind. However, speculations about handing over the command of the state to former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje have also intensified. On the other hand, keeping in mind the polarization of the BJP, there is also discussion in political circles about the name of Baba Balknath, who won the election from Tijara in a tough fight with Imran Khan of Congress.
The BJP also has Arjun Ram Meghwal as the Dalit face for Chief Minister and Dr. Kirori Lal Meena, the MP who won the election from Sawai Madhopur as the tribal face, as options. However, one cannot deny the situation of contradiction regarding consensus on the name of Dalit tribal face in the BJP. Apart from these names, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Diya Kumari from the Jaipur royal family, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Omprakash Mathur is also being discussed. All the above-mentioned individuals, who were in the news as CM faces, have been summoned to Delhi by the party high command.
Until the ticket distribution in Rajasthan, resentment was seen between the top leadership of the party and Raje, but now as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje may get the first priority. Vasundhara Raje has been the CM of Rajasthan twice. Both elections were contested with Vasundhara's face, and she won. This time the state elections have been fought with the face of Narendra Modi. Vasundhara comes from the Rajput community and Diya Kumari and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat are also in the race for the post of CM as Rajput faces.
To appeal to tribal voters in Rajasthan, the top leadership of the BJP is also mulling over the name of Dr. Kirori Lal Meena as the Chief Minister. Dr. Kirori has earned his reputation in the eyes of Narendra Modi by continuously fighting against corruption on the streets. He is considered to have a strong hold on the ST voters of the state. Narendra Modi has participated in a program at a place of the Meena community in Dausa on the call of Dr. Kirori Lal Meena.
The BJP has a big face in Rajasthan as a Dalit representative. He has been an MP from Bikaner for two consecutive terms and is counted among the people close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Many significant initiatives are in the news from the Ministry of Culture. Consultation is also going on regarding the name of Arjunram Meghwal to attract Dalit supporters in the Lok Sabha elections.
Apart from these, Om Birla is also being seen as an option. He is the Lok Sabha Speaker. Narendra Modi has the specialty of bringing everyone together, and a clean image has been created among the big leaders of the BJP. Ever since Diya Kumari entered politics, the BJP has always kept her ahead. Being from the Jaipur royal family, this name has been discussed as an alternative to Vasundhara. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat identifies himself as an RSS activist. After working with the Sangh for 20 years, the BJP contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jodhpur. After this, in 2019, he won the Lok Sabha elections for the second time by defeating Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's son.
