Tensions Rise as Suspended Congress MLAs Denied Entry to Rajasthan Assembly

Jaipur - The political impasse in the Rajasthan Assembly continued for the fifth consecutive day as marshals prevented six suspended Congress legislators from entering the legislative chamber on Tuesday. The MLAs attempted to force their way into the House but were blocked at the entrance.

The ongoing deadlock stems from controversial remarks made by state Minister Avinash Gehlot regarding former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. While Congress members have ended their sit-in demonstration that began last week, they remain adamant about their demands - the reinstatement of suspended colleagues and a formal apology from the Minister.

Party sources indicated that although Congress legislators terminated their overnight protest on Monday, they planned to maintain their boycott of Assembly proceedings on Tuesday.

The situation has grown more complex with new allegations of disrespect toward the Speaker joining the existing dispute between government and opposition. Following Monday's adjournment, Opposition Leader Dotasra reportedly used inappropriate language when referring to the Speaker, further complicating resolution efforts.

"Our position is clear - we will not participate in Assembly business until the Minister's comments are removed from official records and he apologizes," Dotasra told reporters. He warned that if their 66 legislators cannot function within the House, they would take their protest to public forums.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel countered by accusing Dotasra of violating an agreement reached during discussions in the Speaker's chamber. "There was a clear understanding that he would express regret for his inappropriate approach to the Speaker's podium, but he later refused to do so," Patel claimed.

Patel strongly criticized Dotasra's alleged remarks about the Speaker as "completely unacceptable" and suggested the opposition leader was deliberately creating obstacles to normal legislative functions. "The public is watching closely. What issue of genuine public concern justifies this persistent disruption?" he questioned.
