New Delhi — Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of following the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), branding the state's opposition party as "BRSS."
Speaking to reporters at the inauguration of the new Congress office building in the national capital, Reddy said the BRS is making the same allegations against his government that the BJP makes.
Citing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement that the Congress maintains ideological differences with the RSS, Reddy said the Sangh never fought for India's independence. He said no one from the RSS sacrificed their lives during the Indian freedom struggle.
Reddy alleged that the RSS is unwilling to praise or talk about the freedom struggle.
“It’s their real ideology,” Reddy said, referencing RSS Sar Sanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat's statement that the organization had nothing to do with the freedom struggle.
Reddy echoed Gandhi's comments that Congress leaders sacrificed their lives for Indian independence and that the party has striven to advance the country.
Reddy stated that Rahul Gandhi demanded legal proceedings against anyone who spoke against freedom, including Mohan Bhagwat. He accused the BJP of peddling lies and falsely accusing, labeling it the “Bharatiya Jhoota Party.”
He challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify whether he supports Bhagwat's views or the millions who died for India's independence. He accused BJP leaders of diverting attention from Bhagwat's speech on the Indian freedom struggle by making wild allegations against the Congress.
Referring to the BRS party's alleged violent activities, Reddy said the Congress government is ensuring the law proceeds in Telangana. He said police will act and file criminal cases for any attack, anywhere, by enforcing law and order.
BRS leaders, alongside the police, attacked Congress offices during the previous government, Reddy alleged. The ruling Congress is refraining from such violent activities, he said.
The new Congress office is going to be a platform for the benefit of the people of the country, the chief minister said.
The Congressman said the new office building was constructed to develop plans for the country. He added that plans would be prepared to make India a strong and powerful country.
It was the Congress that developed the Indian Constitution for the country through Babasaheb Ambedkar, Reddy said. He stressed that the party took inspiration from the Constitution and strived for the welfare and development of the poor people, especially the tribals, Dalits, weaker sections, and minorities.
Despite years of congressional rule, the party finally built its own office. Reddy highlighted the Congress party's decades of selfless service to the country.
Reddy said people nationwide are aware of the financial condition of the 140-year-old Congress and 40-year-old BJP, among other regional parties.
