Bhopal- In a dramatic protest that captured statewide attention, Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh brought snake baskets to the Assembly premises — a powerful visual metaphor accusing the BJP government of "biting the youth like a snake" rather than providing employment opportunities.
On the second day of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly's budget session, the Congress staged this unique protest against the BJP government over the issue of unemployment.
Led by Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar, Congress MLAs symbolically carried snakes in baskets near the Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises. The Congress accused the government of "biting the youth like a snake" instead of providing them with jobs.
During the protest, Congress MLAs held placards with slogans such as "Youth Demand Employment," "Fill Vacant Posts," and "Government, Answer Us." Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, saying, "This government is coiled up like a snake and has become a 'snake god' for the youth of the state. Lakhs of posts are lying vacant in government departments, but instead of recruiting, the government is cheating the youth."
He pointed out that thousands of positions are vacant in the police, education, irrigation, and health departments, but the government has failed to provide employment to the youth. Specifically, over 70,000 posts are vacant in the education department, but the government is making excuses instead of filling them.
The Congress raised the issue of unemployment in the Assembly and demanded answers from the government. The Leader of Opposition stated that the unemployment rate in Madhya Pradesh is continuously rising. Government recruitments are either stalled or marred by irregularities in examinations, pushing the future of the youth into darkness.
"Youth in Madhya Pradesh are wandering in search of employment. After the Vyapam scam, cases of paper leaks, recruitment scams, and bribery are now emerging. The government is misleading the youth with false promises," said Singhar.
The path to government jobs for youth in Madhya Pradesh is becoming increasingly difficult. According to government data:
Over 70,000 posts are vacant in the education department.
More than 10,000 positions are vacant in the police department.
The health department faces a shortage of 5,000 doctors and nursing staff.
Several cases of paper leaks have been reported in Vyapam and other recruitment exams.
The Congress claims that if the government does not start the recruitment process soon, youth protests in the state will intensify.
