Bhopal - A political firestorm has erupted in Madhya Pradesh between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress over a letter allegedly written by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The controversy stems from a claim made by Congress leader Jitu Patwari during a public gathering in the Vijaypur Assembly seat on Monday, which was recently won by the Congress in a bypoll.

Patwari, referencing a letter dated January 8, accused Scindia of failing to help a farmer whose land was illegally occupied. Patwari presented the letter, purportedly written by Scindia to the Sheopur District Collector, to the audience. He claimed that despite Scindia's intervention, no action was taken against the land-grabbers, and the farmer is yet to recover his property.

"It's been almost one year since this letter was written but action is awaited," Patwari stated, implying that Scindia's letter held no weight with the BJP government. He added that Congress has lost ground in Madhya Pradesh and across India, leading its leaders to make baseless allegations against the BJP.

In a press note, MP unit BJP chief V.D. Sharma responded to Patwari, alleging that the Congress leader was misleading the public with false claims. Sharma issuing a press statement late on Monday. Sharma defended Scindia, calling him a "senior and respected BJP leader" from a family with deep ties to the RSS. He accused the Congress of making "false statements" out of frustration over their recent electoral defeats.

Sharma asserted that the BJP had fought the Vijaypur by-election, which they ultimately lost, with the support of all party workers. He downplayed the defeat, stating that the BJP secured more votes than in previous elections in the constituency.
