Mumbai - The Congress party, in alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena (UBT), today launched its manifesto for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20. The manifesto, called 'Maharashtranama', was unveiled by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Mumbai.

The manifesto draws inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's governance principles and focuses on five key areas: agriculture and rural development, industry and employment, urban and city development, environment, and public welfare.

Some of the key promises in the manifesto include:

  • Financial Assistance: A monthly allowance of Rs 3,000 to women under the Mahalaxmi Scheme, as opposed to the current government's Rs 1,500 under the 'Ladki Bahin Scheme'.

  • Farm Loan Waivers: Loan waivers of up to Rs 3 lakh for farmers and an incentive of Rs 50,000 for timely loan repayments.

  • Unemployment Benefits: A monthly allowance of Rs 4,000 for unemployed youth and recruitment for 250,000 government vacancies.

  • Domestic Subsidies: Six subsidized cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500 each per year and 100 units of free electricity per month for those consuming up to 300 units.

  • Women's Empowerment: Free travel for women on state transport buses, a 'Nirbhay Maharashtra' policy for women's safety, implementation of 'Shakti Laws', two days of menstrual leave, and financial assistance for girls' education and healthcare.

The manifesto also outlines plans for agricultural reforms, healthcare improvements, environmental protection, and urban development.

Kharge, during the launch, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unfulfilled promises and divisive rhetoric. Kharge contrasted this with the Congress party's track record of fulfilling promises made in each state.

The MVA alliance is hoping to secure a victory in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The state will go to the polls on November 20.

The MVA has promised to implement several initiatives in the first 100 days if voted to power, including a series of initiatives for women, farmers, youth, education, health, industry & business, social justice, public welfare, urban development, good governance, and the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
