Karnataka Slams Maharashtra Over "Misleading" Ads

Bengaluru - Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced today that the state government is considering legal action against the Maharashtra government for allegedly publishing misleading advertisements about Karnataka's guarantee schemes. The advertisements, published in the lead-up to the Karnataka Assembly election, aim to sway voters by misrepresenting the implementation of these schemes.

Siddaramaiah, speaking to the media after garlanding the statue of Kanakadasa and offering floral tributes during the Kanaka Jayanti celebrations, accused the Maharashtra government of attempting to "lure voters" with these false claims. He reiterated his government's commitment to fulfilling its promises and ensuring Karnataka receives its rightful share of resources.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar echoed these sentiments, stating that the BJP has launched a misinformation campaign alleging the non-implementation of guarantee schemes in Karnataka. He challenged the BJP to visit Karnataka and verify the facts, offering to arrange special flights for Maharashtra's CM, Dy CMs, and ministers.

Siddaramaiah further criticized the Centre for what he perceives as unfair treatment of Karnataka. He highlighted the state's contribution of Rs 4.50 lakh crore in taxes to the Centre, compared to the Rs 59,000 crore it receives in return.
