Bengaluru- The Karnataka BJP today challenged Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to apologize for the alleged injustices done to B.R. Ambedkar by the Congress party. This challenge came during a press conference held at the party headquarters in Bengaluru, led by Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy.
Narayanaswamy questioned Kharge's ability to seek forgiveness, given his position as Congress President and his alleged subservience to party leader Sonia Gandhi. Narayanaswamy questioned Kharge for not daring to ask why Congress did not grant Ambedkar the Bharat Ratna. Narayanaswamy asserted that Kharge's power within the Congress is limited, questioning why he became the party president if Dalits are subjected to such "slavery."
Narayanaswamy defended Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement, claiming that Shah had criticized the Congress party and not Ambedkar. He emphasized that Ambedkar had faced opposition from the Congress throughout his life, citing instances like the party's rejection of his Hindu Code Bill and their role in his resignation from the interim government.
The BJP leader highlighted Ambedkar's contributions to India, including establishing the Reserve Bank of India and securing voting rights for women. He contrasted this with the Congress's alleged disregard for Ambedkar, citing the example of their treatment of Jagjivan Ram, Sardar Patel, and V.P. Singh.
