Srinagar- A total of 310 candidates have filed their nominations across 26 Assembly constituencies in six districts for the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024. The last day for filing nominations was September 5. In total, 329 nomination papers were submitted.
In the Srinagar district, 112 candidates have filed their nominations, followed by 68 in Budgam, 47 in Rajouri, 35 in Poonch, and 24 each in Reasi and Ganderbal districts. Notably, in the Reasi district, 24 candidates are contesting across three Assembly constituencies, while in the Rajouri district, 47 candidates are competing across five constituencies. Similarly, in the Poonch district, 35 candidates have submitted nominations across three constituencies.
In the Kashmir division, Ganderbal and Srinagar districts saw a total of 36 candidates, with Ganderbal's 18 Assembly seats having 24 candidates and Srinagar's eight constituencies fielding 18. In Budgam, 68 candidates are in the running across five constituencies.
The nomination papers will be scrutinized today, and candidates have until September 9, to withdraw their nominations. Voting for these constituencies in Phase-II is scheduled for September 25.
