Patna - Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has launched a unique protest initiative called the 'White T-Shirt Movement' in Bihar, aiming to mobilize youth against unemployment and forced migration. The movement, which begins today, comes ahead of Gandhi's visit to Begusarai district where he plans to lead a 'Stop Migration, Give Jobs Yatra'.

In an emotional video appeal shared on social media, the Leader of Opposition directly addressed Bihar's youth: "The White T-Shirt Movement will show the world your struggles and aspirations. Bihar's youth won't be misled anymore - they're ready to build their own destiny." Gandhi urged participants to wear white T-shirts as a symbol of unity and protest against key issues like inflation, unemployment, privatization, and frequent paper leaks in government exams.

The movement is strategically timed as Bihar prepares for Assembly elections later this year. It follows Congress's recent organizational overhaul in the state where the party appointed new presidents for all 40 districts. During his visit, Gandhi is expected to hold crucial meetings with these newly appointed leaders to finalize the party's election strategy.

Political analysts suggest the white T-shirt symbolizes both peace and protest, potentially echoing successful mass movements of the past. The campaign specifically targets Bihar's frustrated young voters, many of whom face unemployment or are forced to migrate for work.

The BJP has responded with sharp criticism. Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal mocked the initiative, saying: "Rahul Gandhi has sunk Congress in every state he's campaigned - from Chhattisgarh to Delhi. At 55, he's still trying to be a youth leader. This movement will meet the same fate."

Gandhi's Begusarai program today will see him walking with protesters and addressing public concerns. The Congress hopes this grassroots campaign can counter the BJP-JD(U) alliance's development narrative and re-establish the party's connection with Bihar's youth.

As the White T-Shirt Movement kicks off, all eyes are on whether it can translate into tangible political support for Congress in the crucial election year. The movement's success may depend on its ability to sustain momentum and convert public discontent into votes.
