Champai Soren Resigns from JMM, Set to Join BJP

Ranchi- Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), announcing his decision on social media. He emphasized his commitment to fighting for the rights of marginalized communities in Jharkhand. This move follows his intent to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Soren criticized other parties for prioritizing votes over serious issues and is set to officially join BJP on August 30. While Congress and other leaders criticized his decision, Soren remains firm in his new political direction.

Soren also reflected on the support he has received from the people of the Kolhan region throughout his political career, noting that they had encouraged him to remain active in politics. He criticized other political parties for prioritizing votes over serious issues, asserting that "only BJP seems serious on this issue and other parties are ignoring it for the sake of votes."​

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that Soren would officially join the BJP on August 30 in Ranchi, following a meeting with Amit Shah. "Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a distinguished Adivasi leader of our country, Champai Soren, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah a short while ago. He will officially join the BJP on August 30 in Ranchi," Sarma shared in a post on X.​
