From MP, Gujarat, UP to Delhi, Muslims Under Attack: CPI(M) Presents a Harrowing List

New Delhi- In a strongly worded statement, the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has condemned the spate of attacks against members of the Muslim community in various parts of the country in the period since the election results were announced.

Several disturbing incidents have been reported, including the brutal killing of three Muslim men in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. They were transporting bullocks when they were accused of cow-smuggling and lynched by self-proclaimed cow vigilantes.

In Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim man was beaten to death following accusations of theft.

In Mandala, Madhya Pradesh, eleven homes belonging to Muslim families were demolished within a day after alleged reports of beef being found in their refrigerators.

In Lucknow's Akbarnagar, a predominantly Muslim area, the homes of over a thousand families were bulldozed to pave the way for riverfront construction.

In Vadodara, Gujarat, Hindu residents protested the allocation of a flat to a Muslim woman in a low-income housing complex under the Chief Minister's Housing Scheme.

Similarly, in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, a Muslim shop owner faced vandalism and looting of his shop following allegations of cow slaughter during Eid-al-Adha. Sixteen other Muslim shop owners in the town were reportedly forced to flee.

In Delhi's Sangam Vihar, residents have been fleeing after provocative speeches by Hindutva groups, sparked by the discovery of a cow carcass near a place of worship.

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury attributed the escalation of communal violence to the BJP's electoral losses. "Smarting at BJP’s electoral setback, losing 92 sitting seats while gaining 29 (net loss of 63), Hindutva outfits have savagely intensified vicious attacks on Muslim minorities. This is unacceptable," he stated.

"We strongly condemn such sharpening of communal polarization and call for protest actions across the country."

The CPI(M) Polit Bureau has called on its units nationwide to remain vigilant and organize protests to counter these divisive efforts, emphasizing the need to prevent communal forces from further vitiating the social atmosphere and diverting public attention from critical issues.
