Uttar Pradesh Police Seize Car Used by Assailants in Attack on Azad; Four Suspects Detained

Deoband— In a significant development, Uttar Pradesh police have successfully recovered the car used by the assailants involved in the brutal attack on Chandrashekhar Azad, the esteemed founder of the Bhim Army and the national president of the Azad Samaj Party. The incident occurred in Deoband, Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Alongside this breakthrough, the police have detained four suspects in connection with the case and are currently conducting extensive interrogations. The complaint regarding the attack was filed by Manish Kumar, the brother of Bhim Army and Chandrashekhar. The case has been registered under various provisions of IPC including attempt to murder and sections of the SC-ST Act.

The incident took place on June 28, when Chandrashekhar Azad, accompanied by his brother, was returning home from Delhi to Deoband in Saharanpur. Around 4 to 5 pm, while on their way, they intended to visit a worker's house in Deoband. As they were traveling in their Fortuner car, an unidentified group of individuals disembarked from a Swift Desire car with the license plate HR 70 D 0278 and fired four shots at their vehicle. Fortunately, the bullets merely grazed Chandrashekhar, causing minor injuries. He was promptly admitted to a hospital in Deoband for medical treatment, where bullet marks on his car were also observed.

The police have been diligently examining the CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the attackers. Chandrashekhar, while recuperating at the hospital, appealed to his supporters to remain calm and composed. He recollected that he was unable to recall specific details, but his acquaintances managed to recognize one of the assailants. The car used by the attackers was reportedly headed towards Saharanpur before making a U-turn. At the time of the incident, there were a total of five individuals in the car, including Chandrashekhar's younger brother.

Following the attack, a case has been registered against Chandrashekhar and his brother on the basis of their statement. The charges pressed include sections of the SC-ST Act, as well as attempted murder. Sources reveal that the registration number of the assailant's vehicle has been identified as a white Swift DZire. The police have successfully recovered the vehicle and taken four individuals into custody as suspects. Investigations are currently underway to ascertain the vehicle's involvement in the crime. The recovered car was found in Miragpur village of Deoband.

This incident has caused shockwaves throughout the region and garnered widespread attention.  At the call of Vinay Ratan Singh, National President of The Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party , supporters organized  gatherings at the district collectorates across the country , on Thursday noon, where associates assembled and submitted  memorandums to the respective District Magistrates in their regions.
