New Delhi- The first commercial flight operation at the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, is expected to take off by April next year. This has been confirmed by the NIA.

The airport will file its aerodrome license application and flight procedures tests by the end of this year, said a statement issued by the NIA. The first phase of the airport's development will comprise one runway and one terminal with a capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually.

It is hoped that once the four development phases are complete, the airport will be able to accommodate 70 million passengers every year. The NIA has also signed Memorandums of Understanding with global airlines for better network planning and operational requirements.
