New Delhi- The Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh (MMC) Special Zonal Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) has issued a press release , expressing support for laying down arms and accepting government rehabilitation schemes.
The statement, signed by spokesperson Anant, is addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Dev Sai and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav.
It endorses a decision by Central Committee and Politburo member Comrade Sonu Dada to lay down arms and temporarily halt armed struggle, following an assessment of changing national and global situations. The committee notes similar support from Central Committee members Satish Dada and Comrade Chandranna.
"We, the MMC Special Zonal Committee, also wish to lay down arms and accept the government's rehabilitation and reintegration schemes," the release states.
The group requests time until February 15, 2026, for collective decision-making under the party's principles of democratic centralism. It explains the need for time to contact comrades and convey the message via established methods, as no simpler communication means are available.
The committee states this timeline falls within the government's March 31, 2026, deadline for ending Maoism and assures no hidden motives behind the request.
In return, it appeals to the three state governments to halt security force campaigns until then, including during the upcoming People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Week. It specifically asks to stop informant activities and avoid engaging forces based on inputs.
"We assure you that we will not observe PLGA Week this time and will halt all our activities," the statement adds, emphasizing that mutual efforts will create a better atmosphere for communication and joint decisions.
To reach comrades, the release requests governments to broadcast the full letter on radio for the next few days, describing radio as the only reliable medium for daily news updates.
It also seeks opportunities for meetings with people's representatives and journalists to announce a definite date for laying down arms and accepting rehabilitation, conditional on halting security operations and creating a favorable environment.
The committee will await the governments' response and suggests broadcasting it on radio before evening regional news bulletins for quick dissemination. It pledges to issue another press release confirming the definite date afterward.
Anant appeals to comrades Sonu Dada and Satish Dada to convey the request to the governments and seek the time extension.
The statement further urges public-spirited representatives, journalists, and YouTuber journalists to mediate between the group and governments, discuss the appeal, and cover the news on their channels, similar to their roles in past efforts in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
Anant also calls on zonal comrades to halt all activities immediately upon receiving the message until the process advances.
