Indian Navy Ship Visits Sri Lanka for Joint Activities

Colombo- The Indian Navy’s warship, INS Mumbai, arrived in Colombo on August 26 for a three-day visit. The Sri Lanka Navy ceremonially received the ship.

This is the eighth visit by an Indian Navy ship to Sri Lanka in 2024 and the first visit of INS Mumbai to the country. During the stay at INS Mumbai, essential spare parts for the Dornier maritime patrol aircraft operated by the Sri Lanka Air Force will be delivered.

In addition, a familiarisation tour of the ship will be organised for the Sri Lanka Navy personnel as part of the visit. This will also be aimed at sharing operational practices. The Commanding Officer of the ship will also have contact with the Commander of the Western Naval Area.

As part of the visit, INS Mumbai will conduct joint activities with the Sri Lanka Navy. These activities will include sports events, yoga sessions, and a beach cleaning initiative. The visit is classified as an Operational Turn-Around, which means that the ship will refuel and receive supplies. The crew will also have the opportunity to visit local sites in Colombo and Galle. The ship is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka on August 29.
