Jaipur- The All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police 2024 commenced on Friday at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, and is scheduled to run from January 5th to 7th. The conference, a platform for in-depth discussions on critical policing and internal security issues, brings together key stakeholders, including the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, National Security Advisor, MOS for Home Affairs, Cabinet Secretary, and other high-ranking officials. Around 250 DGP-IGP rank officers are expected to participate during the three-day event while more than 200 police officers would mark their presence online.

PM Modi arrived in Jaipur on Friday evening; however, he will attend the conference from Saturday onwards.

Among the multifaceted topics under discussion are Cyber Crime, Technology in Policing, Counter Terrorism challenges, Left Wing Extremism, and Prison Reforms. A pivotal focus of the conference is the roadmap for the implementation of new criminal laws, reflecting a concerted effort to enhance the legal framework.

The deliberations extend to futuristic themes in policing and security, with a specific emphasis on addressing challenges posed by emerging technologies like AI and Deepfake. This forward-looking approach aims to equip law enforcement agencies with the tools and strategies necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of security threats.

The conference is structured to encourage the exchange of best practices among police and intelligence officers from district, state, and national levels. States and Union Territories will have the opportunity to showcase successful approaches under each theme, fostering a collaborative environment for mutual learning.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has actively participated in the DGP conference since 2014, demonstrating a commitment to the continuous improvement of policing and internal security. The event's format allows for not only formal discussions but also free-flowing thematic dialogues over meals, providing a platform for senior police officials to share their views and recommendations.

The tradition of organizing annual DGP conferences across the country, initiated by the Prime Minister, continues with this year's event in Jaipur. The goal is to identify tangible action points during the conference and present them to the Prime Minister annually for monitoring progress.

The Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur is buzzing with activity as participants engage in comprehensive discussions, contributing to the shaping of policies and strategies for the future of law enforcement in the country. The conference serves as a crucial milestone in the collaborative efforts to address the complexities of policing and internal security.
