New Delhi- The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has lodged a formal criminal complaint with the Delhi Police Commissioner accusing prominent social media personality Abhijit Iyer-Mitra and an associate, Mayank Bhandari, of orchestrating a deliberate attempt to incite unrest during a peaceful student-led demonstration. The complaint alleges a calculated conspiracy aimed at endangering India's sovereignty and provoking public disorder at the iconic Jantar Mantar protest site.

According to the complaint submitted by the CJP spokesperson Saurav Das, a peaceful gathering was held on June 6 demanding student welfare and employment reforms. During the event, one Mayank Bhandari allegedly infiltrated the protest on the instructions of Abhijit Iyer-Mitra and made highly inflammatory statements on camera, calling for the “balkanization of India into seven pieces.” The remarks reportedly sparked immediate public outrage. Iyer-Mitra later took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he purportedly claimed responsibility for sending the individual to the venue, though he later described the episode as sarcasm or ground reporting.

The CJP complaint describes the incident as a pre-planned effort to falsely implicate the organizers in anti-national activities, disrupt law and order, and create fear among participants. It invokes multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including Section 152 (acts endangering sovereignty, unity and integrity of India), Section 61 (criminal conspiracy), Section 192 (provocation with intent to cause riot), and Section 353 (statements conducive to public mischief), along with relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Supporting evidence cited includes video footage, social media posts, and printouts submitted along with the complaint.

In the letter addressed to the Commissioner of Police, the CJP has urged immediate registration of an FIR against Iyer-Mitra and the unidentified individual, followed by a thorough probe into electronic records and communication between the accused. The organization emphasized the need to safeguard peaceful democratic assemblies from what it termed “bad-faith actors” seeking to undermine national unity.

In a x post, fact checker Mohammad Zubair wrote, "These Right Wing guys turned up to Jantar Mantar pretending to be protestors. They give out controversial and Anti-India statements to youtube Channels. Once their Provocative video goes viral and they start getting abused by the right wing. They now reach out to big handles claiming, "Bhaiya, Mai toh Mazak kar raha tha, Sarcasm tha, Dhurandar ban ke gaya tha, Logon ko Sarcasm samajh nahi aati".
