Ahmedabad Metro Extension to Connect Key Areas

Ahmedabad- The second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Extension will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 16, 2024. The extension will connect Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, bringing crucial areas such as GNLU, PDEU, Gift City, Raysan, Randesan, Dholavacuum, Infocity, and Sector-1.

The 21-kilometre long extension will feature eight new stations, providing seamless transportation to residential and commercial areas. It is expected to offer affordable and time-efficient travel options for daily commuters, especially those working in Gandhinagar and GIFT City. The cost of taking the Metro Rail from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar's Sector-1 is Rs 35, which is less than Rs 415 for a taxi.

The Metro's decision to use clean and efficient design will help in reducing the region's carbon footprint. It is also expected to ease traffic congestion on Ahmedabad's busy roads, which will improve air quality and reduce pollution. The extension is also expected to spur real estate development, with an increase in demand for housing and commercial spaces near the new stations.
