New Delhi- In view of the recent surge in violence against hospital personnel, the Union Health Ministry has issued a new circular in order to safeguard the safety of doctors and healthcare workers.

According to the circular, all the cases of violence against hospital staff must be reported to the police within six hours of the incident. It has been made clear that the responsibility of lodging these complaints rests on the head of the concerned hospital.

The order states that the new measures will apply to all AIIMS facilities and medical colleges across the country. It has been issued by the Directorate General of Health Services in order to provide a safer working environment for healthcare workers.

The circular has come into effect after the recent surge in reported incidents of violence against medical professionals.
