New Delhi- Sidhu Moosewala's Mother Charan Kaur, who recently gave birth to a son, has been asked by the Health Ministry to provide information regarding her IVF treatment, following concerns about her age. Charan Kaur, aged 58, opted for in vitro fertilization (IVF) after the passing of her only son. However, concerns have been raised regarding her age being two years beyond the typical age range for such treatments.

The Union Health Ministry has written to the Punjab Government, urging them to furnish a report promptly. The letter specifically raises questions regarding Charan Kaur's age and the adherence to regulations outlined in the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021.

According to the Act, the prescribed age range for women seeking assisted reproductive technology is between 21 and 50 years. Hence, the Ministry has called for an investigation into this matter and requested a report on the actions taken.

Previously, Sidhu Moosewala's father, Balkaur Singh Sidhu, accused the Punjab government of harassment. In a video statement, he expressed his distress over the government's demand for proof of his child's legality, which has been a source of great concern for him.

Moosewala, who unsuccessfully contested the Punjab Assembly elections on a Congress ticket from Mansa in 2022, was tragically murdered on May 29 of the same year. He was shot dead by assailants in his car on May 29, 2022, in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.

The late singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, had shared the news of the baby with a photo. In the photo, he can be seen holding the newlyborn in his arms, sitting in front of a framed photo of his late elder son. There was a cake in front of him too. He captioned the photo in Punjabi. It loosely translates to, “With the blessings of millions of souls who love Shubdeep, the Almighty has put Shubh’s younger brother in our bag. With the blessings of Waheguru, the family is healthy and thankful to all the well-wishers for their immense love.”

IVF, commonly known as test tube baby or artificial pregnancy, is a method utilized by women who are unable to conceive naturally. Eggs and sperm are fertilized in a laboratory setting when natural fertilization fails. The resulting embryo is then implanted into the woman's uterus.

Although IVF technology allows for childbirth at older ages, Indian regulations impose certain age limits. As per the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, women can undergo IVF treatment until the age of 50, while men can become fathers through this technique until the age of 55.
