Kolkata- In West Bengal, several prominent figures from literature, theater, and film have announced they will return their state awards in response to the RG Kar Hospital case. This includes actor Sudipta Chakraborty, theater personality Biplab Bandyopadhyay, and thespian Chandan Sen.

Sudipta Chakraborty has decided to return the Special Film Award she received from the Mamata Banerjee government in July 2013. She stated in a letter to the Secretary of the Information and Cultural Affairs department that she will continue to demand justice for the rape and murder victim from Kolkata.

Biplab Bandyopadhyay is returning the award given to him earlier this year by the Paschimbanga Natya Akademi. He claims that the state government and police are trying to cover up details related to the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Hospital on August 9.

Chandan Sen is also returning the 'Dinabandhu Mitra Purashkar,' an award from the Natya Akademi. Additionally, the theater group 'Samabeta Prayas' from Malda district recently announced it will return a state grant of 50,000 rupees to protest the government's handling of the RG Kar case. Parimal Dey, a teacher from Alipurduar district, has also returned an award given to him by the West Bengal government in relation to this incident.
