Dholpur, Rajasthan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the victims who died in a bus-tempo collision in Rajasthan's Dholpur district on Saturday night. The accident claimed the lives of 12 people, including children.
In a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured in the accident.
"The accident in Dholpur, Rajasthan, is heartbreaking. My condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives, including innocent children. May God give them the strength to bear this pain," the PMO statement read. "I also wish for the speedy recovery of all those injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is providing all possible assistance to the victims."
According to police reports, the accident occurred near Sunipur around 11 pm on Saturday when a sleeper bus traveling from Dholpur to Jaipur collided with a tempo.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also expressed his condolences and directed the district administration to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
