Telangana Congress Blasts Union Budget for Neglect

Hyderabad- Telangana Congress President Mahesh Kumar Goud strongly criticized the Union Budget 2025-26, claiming it has done "grave injustice" to the state. Speaking to media persons, Goud said that despite Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman being a "Telugu daughter-in-law," Telangana received "zero" allocation in the budget. He accused the BJP of showing political bias against Telangana while favoring states like Bihar, which is heading for elections soon, and questioned what happened to the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leaders during previous elections.

The criticism came despite recent efforts by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and other state leaders who had met with Prime Minister Modi and Central ministers to discuss various state issues, including requests for a steel plant and an IIM. Environment and Forests Minister Konda Surekha joined in the criticism, expressing dissatisfaction over the insufficient fund allocation and alleging that the Centre had overlooked the state's requests and ignored promises made to Telangana's people.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy convened a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues to discuss the Union Budget's impact on the state's upcoming 2025-26 budget and to plan departmental allocations. The ministers expressed displeasure over Telangana being neglected once again by the Centre and questioned why BJP MPs from Telangana remained silent about the perceived unfair treatment of their state.
