Jehanabad- A teacher from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jehanabad, Bihar, identified as Deepali, has been suspended following widespread outrage over a video in which she made disparaging comments about the state. The suspension order was issued on Wednesday under Section 10 of the 1965 Central Civil Services Act.
In the controversial video that circulated on social media, Deepali expressed frustration about her posting in Jehanabad, stating she would accept a position anywhere in India except Bihar. She specifically mentioned preferring assignments in West Bengal, southern states, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, or Ladakh over her current placement in Bihar.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Central School Organisation in Patna took swift action, ordering her immediate suspension. During this period, Deepali has been directed to report to the Central School headquarters in Masrakh block of Saran district and is prohibited from leaving without permission from the school principal.
The principal of the Jehanabad school has distanced the institution from the controversy, describing it as Deepali's personal matter. However, the incident has drawn strong reactions from local residents and officials who condemned her remarks as disrespectful.
The controversy has also attracted political attention. Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary acknowledged the suspension on social media platform X, thanking the Central School administration for their prompt response and describing the teacher's language against Bihar as "condemnable."
Former MLA Rahul Sharma has taken a stronger position, writing to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to demand Deepali's permanent removal from service. Sharma argued that such individuals "spread distortions in society" that could negatively impact children's futures.
As public outrage continues to build across Bihar, there are growing calls for more severe disciplinary action beyond the temporary suspension. Both the Bihar administration and Kendriya Vidyalaya officials now face pressure to consider termination rather than suspension.
