Sambhal — The Sambhal district administration on Saturday cleared illegal encroachments near the Pap Mochan Tirtha and Holika Dahan Sthal in Tiwari Sarai, reclaiming and preserving the region’s historical and cultural heritage.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vandana Mishra led the operation, which involved municipal and revenue officials and heavy machinery, including JCBs. The drive targeted unauthorized structures, including shops and makeshift stalls, to ensure the sanctity and accessibility of the religious sites.
“Encroachments on the Holika Dahan site behind this pilgrimage area have been removed,” Mishra said. “Strict legal action will follow against those who have illegally occupied these lands.”
The action followed an inspection Friday by District Magistrate Rajendra Pensia and Superintendent of Police Krishnan Vishnoi, who ordered the immediate removal of the encroachments. Pensia emphasized the administration’s commitment to protecting the district’s heritage through consistent and decisive measures.
Additionally, encroachments near the Munni Mata Temple in Tiwari Sarai were removed. Bamboo barricades and temporary structures were dismantled during the operation. While some residents were granted additional time to vacate, the demolition proceeded as planned, with many voluntarily removing their belongings.
