Jaipur- The Rajcop Citizen App, a public safety initiative by the Rajasthan Police, has achieved remarkable success with more than 21,000 downloads in a single day. The surge in downloads followed a February 12 incident in Jaipur's Triveni Nagar, where the app's "Help Chahiye" feature enabled swift police response to assist a coaching student who was being harassed. According to State Crime Record Bureau IG Sharat Kaviraj, police reached the scene within three minutes of receiving the alert and apprehended the perpetrator.
The mobile application, which is available for both Android and iOS platforms, integrates several critical safety features designed to protect citizens, with a particular focus on women's security. Users can track approaching police vehicles in real-time and receive direct communication from the control room during emergencies. The app's functionality extends beyond immediate assistance, incorporating services such as Helpline Services and access to Tele Manas, India's National Tele Mental Health Program for counseling support.
Looking ahead, the Rajasthan Police plans to enhance the app's capabilities with a new 'Travel Safety' feature specifically designed for women traveling alone. The application's success lies in its ability to streamline emergency response by enabling users to send location-tagged alerts directly to the police control room. IG Kaviraj noted that the data collected through user complaints will be instrumental in developing more effective crime prevention strategies, further strengthening the app's role as a vital tool for public safety in Rajasthan.
