Rajasthan Police Halts SI Training Amid Alleged Malpractice

Jaipur — Rajasthan Director General of Police Utkal Ranjan Sahu on Friday ordered a halt to the field training of trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs) across the state. The order comes after the High Court on Thursday banned the training and posting of SIs selected through the 2021 recruitment process.

The High Court, presided over by Justice Sameer Jain, is hearing a case related to the SI Recruitment Exam 2021, which has been plagued by allegations of malpractice, including a leaked question paper and the use of dummy candidates.

According to the DGP’s order, all trainee SIs and Police Constables (PCs) recruited through the 2021 process must report to their respective district or battalion headquarters. They are to remain there without performing any duties or undergoing training until further notice. Attendance measures will be in place to ensure their presence.

This decision follows the High Court’s Nov. 18 order that initially prohibited the posting of selected candidates from the SI Recruitment Exam 2021. Despite this order, the state government proceeded with postings for trainee SIs, leading to the suspension of one trainee SI who was held in Special Operations Group (SOG) custody for more than 48 hours.

The SOG investigation has revealed that several candidates secured jobs through fraudulent means. To date, about 50 trainee SIs have been arrested, with 25 granted bail by the High Court.

The High Court will hold its next hearing on the matter Feb. 10.
