New Delhi- In her address to the nation on the eve of 76th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu praised the efforts of farmers, laborers, scientists, and young Indians for their contributions to the country's progress. She emphasized India's growing influence on global economic trends.
President Murmu acknowledged the hard work of farmers in achieving self-sufficiency in food production and the laborers who transformed India's infrastructure and manufacturing sector. She stated, "Thanks to their sterling efforts, India’s economy today influences the global economic trends.”
The President also highlighted ISRO's recent achievements in space, including the successful space docking experiment, making India the fourth country globally to possess this capability.
President Murmu expressed confidence in the youth, particularly young women, as the driving force behind the future of India. She remarked, "We are marching towards the future, holding our heads high. The key to our future is our youth, especially the young women. Their dreams are moulding the India of tomorrow when we will be celebrating the centenary of our Independence.”
President Murmu also highlighted the success of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, a project close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's heart, aimed at planting 80 crore seedlings. The target was achieved ahead of the deadline.
President Murmu concluded by urging citizens to recommit to Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of truth and non-violence, emphasizing their enduring relevance for the world. She stated, "His watchwords, truth and non-violence will continue to remain relevant for the whole world. He taught us that rights and duties are two sides of the same coin – indeed, the true source of rights is duty." She extended her congratulations to the nation on the occasion of Republic Day, commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
