New BJP Government in Delhi Terminates AAP-Appointed Officials

New Delhi - The newly-formed BJP government in Delhi, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has terminated the appointments of officials who were deployed by the previous AAP administration in the offices of the Chief Minister and Ministers.

Deputy Secretary (Services) Bhairab Dutt issued a circular on Thursday regarding the "Termination of co-terminus appointments," directing all affected personnel to return to their original departments. The order has been distributed to all government departments.

According to the notice, the formation of a new government necessitates fresh staff appointments across all categories, as previous appointments automatically terminate when a Chief Minister and Ministers resign from office. The order primarily affects consultants, advisers, and officers on special duty appointed during the AAP government's tenure.

"Whenever new Ministers are appointed, Ministries/Departments of Government of India have been authorised to create, on their personal staff, posts of various grades. Such posts are to be continued by the Ministries/Departments as long as the Ministers concerned hold office and are to be treated as automatically abolished on their demitting office," the circular states.

The directive specifies that offices of the new Chief Minister and Ministers will need to submit fresh proposals to the General Administration Department (GAD) for co-terminus appointments.

To maintain administrative continuity, the order clarifies that regular staff from DANICS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service), DSS, and Stenographer cadres will continue in their positions until further instructions.
