Imphal- Two migrant workers from Bihar were shot and killed by unidentified assailants in Manipur's Kakching district on Saturday evening, according to police reports. The incident occurred near the panchayat office in Keirak on Kakching-Wabagai Road as the victims were cycling with a group of others.

The victims were identified as Sunalal Kumar, 18, and Dasharat Kumar, 17, both residents of Rajwahi village in Yadavpur police station area under Bihar's Gopalganj district. They were employed in construction work and residing in rented accommodation in Kakching.

Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants but have not yet identified the group responsible. This incident marks the latest in a string of attacks against migrant workers in Manipur.

In a separate incident on Saturday, an armed militant was killed and six others were apprehended by Manipur Police Commandos following a gun battle in Thoubal District. The clash occurred at Salungpham Thongkhong during a routine patrol when militants from the PREPAK group attacked the police. Commandos retaliated against the attack, capturing six militants and injuring another in the gunfight. The injured militant died at a private hospital. The police confirmed that all seven militants belong to the PREPAK group.
