Home Minister Amit Shah to Speak on New Criminal Laws in Delhi

New Delhi- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, is set to be the Chief Guest at the 54th Foundation Day celebration of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in New Delhi.

During the event, he will deliver the Dr. Anand Swaroop Gupta Memorial Lecture on the topic "New Criminal Law - Citizen-Centric Reforms." Additionally, Shah will honor the recipients of the President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and the President's Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) for the years 2023 and 2024. He will also unveil a special edition of the Bureau's publication, the "Indian Police Journal," which focuses on new criminal laws.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the guidance of Shri Amit Shah, BPR&D is dedicated to transforming the Indian Police Forces into SMART forces, equipping them to effectively tackle the challenges of modern policing and internal security by providing them with essential intellectual, physical, and organizational resources.

Since its establishment in 1970, BPR&D has served as a key think tank for the Indian Police, striving to enhance policing standards through research and development. The organization focuses on developing policies and procedures for police and correctional services, advancing technologies for better service delivery to citizens, building the capacity of law enforcement agencies, and fostering cooperation between state and central police organizations.

The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Directors General of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Heads of central police organizations, and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and other departments.
