Court Orders Madhya Pradesh on Religious Structures in Police Stations

Bhopal- The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Monday ordered the state government to submit a detailed report on the construction of religious structures within police stations across the state. The court has given the government seven days to provide a list of all religious structures, including temples, built inside police stations, along with the dates of construction.

The order came after a petition filed by advocate Satish Chandra Verma challenged the construction of these religious structures, claiming they violate the principle of religious neutrality. Verma argued that over 800 police stations in Madhya Pradesh have religious structures on their premises.

The court observed that the report submitted by the state government earlier was inadequate and lacking in facts. The court emphasized the seriousness of the issue, stating that it violates the core principles of the Constitution and secularism.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for January 6.
