New Delhi- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the long-awaited Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on Delhi's liquor regulations to the Assembly on Tuesday, intensifying the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

The report, officially titled "Performance audit report on regulation and supply of liquor in Delhi," was introduced following Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's address to the legislative body. This marks the first of 14 CAG reports expected to be presented gradually in the coming sessions.

The tabling of this particular document carries significant political weight, as controversies surrounding the previous administration's excise policy were central to recent electoral campaigns. The policy, which was eventually withdrawn, resulted in the arrest of prominent AAP leaders and forced then-Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to resign from office.

Speaker Vijender Gupta criticized the previous government's failure to present the CAG findings, describing it as a "criminal offense." He stated that the former administration deliberately prevented public access to the report, actions that had previously drawn criticism from the High Court.

The Assembly session began with disruptions as AAP legislators protested against alleged disrespect toward Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and freedom fighter Bhagat Singh by the current BJP government.

Despite the Speaker's directives to maintain order, approximately twelve AAP members were suspended for the day as they continued their demonstrations during the Lieutenant Governor's address.
