New Delhi- The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) successfully concluded its first Advanced Leadership Development Programme on Public Policy and Governance, tailored for civil servants from Latin America and the Caribbean. Held from 2nd to 13th September 2024, the programme saw the participation of 22 senior civil servants from 10 countries, including Argentina, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Paraguay, Peru, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Suriname. The comprehensive training aimed to promote knowledge sharing on governance innovations, focusing on India’s key strategies like "Maximum Governance, Minimum Government," the Digital India initiative, and sustainable governance models.
During the valedictory session, Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and Director General of NCGG, delivered a keynote address. He highlighted the importance of India’s governance innovations and their potential application in the participants' home countries. The session also included presentations from the participants, who explored governance topics such as ethics in leadership, smart city development, women-centric governance, and improved public service delivery. These discussions allowed for an exchange of ideas and showcased the relevance of India’s governance strategies to address challenges faced by their countries.
The programme was structured into two phases, combining classroom sessions with field visits. Participants visited key institutions such as the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy and the National Institute of Solar Energy, gaining insights into India's approaches to environmental governance, digital security, and renewable energy. Heritage visits, including a tour of the Taj Mahal, provided participants with a glimpse of India's cultural richness. The programme was coordinated by a dedicated team, including Dr. Himanshi Rastogi and her colleagues, ensuring its smooth execution.
