New Delhi- Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, met with Martin Raiser, Vice-President for the South Asian Region of the World Bank, at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting centered on enhancing collaboration in key areas, including climate-resilient agriculture, soil health, and access to carbon markets and digital agriculture.

Dr. Chaturvedi outlined the government’s agricultural priorities, emphasizing self-sufficiency in pulses and oilseeds, promoting sustainable farming, addressing the challenges of small landholdings, and improving service delivery to farmers. The discussions also explored how to ensure carbon credit benefits for small and marginal farmers, enhance access to capital for Farmers Producers Organizations, and encourage widespread behavioral change towards sustainable agricultural practices.
