Rajasthan Floods Claim 22 Lives, Schools Shut

Jaipur- At least 22 people have lost their lives in various parts of Rajasthan after heavy rains. The state has been witnessing heavy rainfall since Saturday.

Due to the heavy rains, the streets in Jaipur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, and Dausa were flooded. All government and private schools in Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur, and Bharatpur districts have been closed today.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a meeting with senior officials in Jaipur to review the situation. He directed the officials to expedite the relief process in the affected areas and take all necessary precautionary measures in view of the weather department's forecast for the coming days.

Seven people have died in the Banganga river near Srinagar village in Bharatpur district as a result of drowning. It is being reported that four people who had gone to save the man also drowned at Kanota Dam near Jaipur while saving him. Apart from this, ten other people have died in rain-related incidents in different districts.

The Chief Minister has appealed to the people to take all precautions in case of heavy rain. The Met Department has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain for seven eastern districts of the state for Sunday.
