Lucknow- Amidst heavy rainfall wreaking havoc across Uttar Pradesh, a dramatic scene unfolded in Lucknow as a massive sinkhole emerged, leaving a car precariously dangling. As residents grappled with the aftermath of the rain, farmers faced additional woes as their crops suffered extensive damage.

After two days of heavy rain and hailstorm, a 20-foot sinkhole has created a problem in Lucknow. The sinkhole has appeared on a road in a residential area of the city. Two cars were parked at the place. One of the cars got partially hung in the sinkhole.

According to reports, the driver of the car was able to get out of the vehicle on time. He immediately alerted the authorities. Police and Public Works Department (PWD) officials reached the spot.

The PWD has directed the immediate start of re-construction work of the road. Police have barricaded the area. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of why the road caved in. The cause of negligence is also being probed.

According to a report by India Today , a boy who lives near the road told that he was studying when he heard a loud sound. He then ran out and saw the sinkhole. He said that the road had caved in and the car was partially dangling. First, a tractor-trolley tried to pull the car out, but it failed. Finally, a tow truck was used to pull the vehicle. The sinkhole also continued to increase in size.

Local residents registered their frustration , citing a recurrent pattern of such accidents on the same stretch of roads , following heavy rainfall.
