India's Ramsar Sites Soar to 85 with New Additions

New Delhi- Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav stated that India has added three Ramsar sites to the network, taking the tally to 85 Ramsar sites.

According to the government, the addition of these three sites will strengthen the total number of Ramsar sites in India to 85. The government has added Nanjarayan Bird Sanctuary and Kazhuveli Bird Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu and Tawa Reservoir of Madhya Pradesh to the list.

In a social media post, Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said this achievement reflects the emphasis that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid on establishing harmony with nature. The government will continue to work for the sustainable development of the country by living in harmony with nature.

Yadav stated, " As the Nation gears up to celebrate its Independence Day, thrilled to share that we have added three Ramsar sites to our network. This takes our tally to 85 Ramsar sites, covering an area of 1358068 ha in India. The achievement reflects the emphasis PM Narendra Modi has laid on establishing harmony with nature, calling our wetlands Amrit Dharohars, and working relentlessly for their conservation. I take this opportunity to congratulate the states of Tamil Nadu, which has added Nanjarayan Bird Sanctuary and Kazhuveli Bird Sanctuary; and Madhya Pradesh, which has added Tawa Reservoir, to the list of India's Ramsar sites."

This is a joyous occasion for India as the country is moving towards harmony with nature, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the government will continue to work for the sustainable development of the country by living in harmony with nature.
