India to Join International Energy Efficiency Hub

New Delhi- On October 3, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved India’s decision to join the International Energy Efficiency Hub by signing a Letter of Intent. This strategic move will allow India to collaborate with a select group of 16 nations, gaining access to innovative energy practices and solutions.

The Hub, established in 2020, aims to promote global cooperation on energy efficiency, and India's membership aligns with its goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing sustainable development. India’s participation will enhance its domestic energy efficiency initiatives by leveraging global expertise, while contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has been appointed as the implementing agency for India’s involvement.

This step marks a significant advance in India’s path towards a low-carbon economy and enhanced energy security.
